rock-a-bye baby

this baby raccoon, along with two of its nearly-identical siblings, appeared in my tree over the summer. one of the babies was hurt and none of them seemed able to get down from the tree (even though they climbed very high up on their own) as they cried for quite some time.
ultimately, i persuaded my dad and my brother to rescue the babies--using a ladder, welding gloves, and a cat carrier.
the babies were ultimately taken to a wildlife rescue where they were mended and cared for until they were able to be released back into their little raccoon world.
things the babies taught me include that raccoons are much softer than they look, they hiss like cats, and they love to have their chins scratched.
